Summer School Opportunities Disappear with Economic Woes |

Following the current trend in coping with decimated state funds, North Carolina announced cut backs and/or complete elimination of summer school programs (News & Observer, 4/20, Bonner). In addition to impacting students who may need to repeat classes because of poor test scores, this practice effectively eliminates the ability for college-focused students to get ahead. With the lack of job opportunities for students, a logical substitute would be getting ahead in summer school programs. There are ways to still benefit from “getting ahead” during summer months.
